Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study has been to investigate how teachers are affected by a homogeneous group of students in their daily life as Social Science teachers, and how student’s position in the classroom impact their behaviour and attitudes. In order for us to answer this study’s research questions, two interviews with currently active teachers have been conducted, and students at two noticeably different schools have been asked to answer a survey. The study has been impacted by the fact that students were not in school answering the questionnaire, but instead at home participating in remote learning. Therefore, the number of students responding to the survey is lower than expected. However, the collected data, from both the survey and the interviews have been analysed through Bourdieu's theory of habitus, capital and fields, as well as alienation. The conclusions reached from this study are that teachers, in different ways, are affected by their homogeneous groups of students. The students, in turn, are affected by a lack of heterogeneity, and the absence of “the other” in their classroom. Thus, alienation can be identified in both schools, but it is expressed differently depending on the school culture.
