Sammanfattning: The collaboration between Sweden and Denmark can be found in many legal areas and have a long-standing tradition. However, it is not without its flaws, given the two distinct legal systems that, despite their many similarities, also contain significant differences. Cross-border objectives, such as a common labor market, falter when bureaucracy fails to keep up with the times, as is the case with social security coverage and the possibility of remote work. The trend of flexible workplaces was greatly enhanced during the COVID-19 pandemic, when swift solutions were implemented to facilitate intergovernmental coordination during uncertain times. This essay examines whether these temporary measures can serve as a solution to the otherwise rigid system that determines social security affiliation within the European Union today, particularly in the Öresund region.
