Sammanfattning: According to a report from Hjärnfonden, there is a clear connection between work and mental illness. However stress, is distinctive at workplaces and the biggest cause of reporting sick. A subject that is important to take a stand on and work towards decreasing. The thesis has its interest in getting a deeper understanding on how Försäkringskassan handle mental illness within their own organization, with focus on how they handle the impaired well being of their staff members. The thesis explains the processes from an employee signals their symptoms within mental illness to getting help and support. The theories used to explain the process presented in the results are motivational theories as well as the concept of psychosocial work environment. The researchers have been focusing on qualitative methods for the study. The data has been collected using semi-structured interviews based on convenience and snowball selection. Four employees from the human resources department as well as two managers participated. A document with guidelines on how Försäkringskassan should work when mental illness occurs has been used along with the interviews. The conclusion is that Försäkringskassan handles mental illness among their employees in different ways. Dialogue takes place between employees and employers.. They use a pulse board, organize pilot projects against mental illness, make adjustments in the form of reduced working hours or environmental changes for the employees with mental illness. They also have guidelines that require employers to make adjustments for the employee.
