Sammanfattning: In this paper the concept of trust is examined in the context of insider acts, defined as actions performed by individuals misusing information they access through employment. A comparative case study of four Swedish cases of infiltration resulting in indictment is carried out, in which a thematic narrative analysis of witness testimonies is conducted. All said testimonies are open-source material, having been part in Swedish criminal investigations. Interpersonal trust as an isolated aspect is found to have little or no consequence for a perpetrator’s possibility to act as an insider, although it cannot be wholly disregarded as factoring in a larger social context not examined in this paper. Trust connected to organizational norms and behaviour is, however, found to be a constant factor in all studied cases, where trust in the integrity of employees can be connected to several problematic responses to risk behaviours. However, it is also found to be a requisite for functioning cooperation in large groups of people.
