Sammanfattning: This Master Thesis describes how a concept for a new fly fishing reel has been developed. The thesis has been an interwork with Loop Tackle Design, which is a leading company in the fly fishing industry with their high-quality products. Loop designs and develops all types of fly fishing equipment like fly fishing reels, rods, lines and clothes. The purpose of this thesis is to generate a concept for a new type of fly fishing reel. The new fly fishing reel shall be innovative and reduce the number of components in fly fishing equipment. The solution for this is to create a fly fishing reel that is collapsible and can be used for all types of fly fishing. The thesis started with a history of fly fishing and the equipments that have been used for fly fishing in the past and what is used today, in order to get an idea how fly fishing have progressed. A frame of reference was then compiled to get an idea of the forces and surroundings a fly fishing reel will be exposed to. To generate a concept for a new fly fishing reel the Kanomodel was used, which gave the foundation for the concept development. From the results of the Kano-model, a couple of concepts where created. With the help of an assessment matrix, two concepts where chosen for further development. 3D-models of the concepts where created for visualization and strength calculation. In the thesis different solutions for the mechanism of the concepts where also created. To reach the purpose of the thesis, two different concepts of the new fly fishing reel where created. One small collapsible fly fishing reel, for the lighter fishing, that have an innovative design and a simple mechanism. The other fly fishing reel is a non-collapsible reel that can be used for all types of fly fishing and have a design that stands out from the ordinary.
