Universal screening of hearing aids in identifying hearing loss earlier in life.Children with UHL have more difficulties in locating sound and perceiving speech in noisy enviroments.Purpose:The aim of this litterature study was to investigate the language development in children and adolescents with UHL.Method:A descriptive literature review was completed. Inclusionary criteria for the articles were: published between 2002-2017, written in English, discussed language development in children with UHL, children werew 17 years of age or younger and were original articles. Studies were excluded if they were review articles or included children with a functional impairment than hearing loss, a cochlear implant or a fluctuating conductive hearing loss. Eleven articles were identified.Result:A majority of the studies demonstrated a difference in language development between the children in the control group and children with UHL. Children with UHL benefited from individual treatment (eg. hearing aids and individual educational plans)
