Sammanfattning: This essay aims to interpret the signs incorporated in the adaptations of fantastical and mythological stories from text to image how they are used and what that reveals about the view of medieval ideals in their respective image. It focuses on two different images depicting two different graves, each with a mourning queen and a dead king from two different stories, from two different time periods. Using Panofskys iconographic method and semiotic theory to determine the meaning in and behind the images.
