Sammanfattning: The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the construction of a hearse made by Adiga on account for Nilsson Special Vehicles, NSV. The vehicle suffers from deformations in the rear as a result of mismatched gas springs and in side doors when these are kept open. Virtual models of side doors and rear are prepared in Catia and then analyzed in Ansys. For the tailgate, the minimum necessary force in the gas springs required to keep the tailgate open is calculated analytically. The impact of the gas springs attachment points on this force is also calculated and alternative locations are tested to minimize the necessary force. Feedback from NSV during process reveals that the reported problems with the side doors have been resolved satisfactorily by NSV themselves, so no argument on improvement points is made for them in this thesis. For the tailgate, a number of improvement points are proposed: Movement of attachment points further back in the body and further down in the tailgate. Introduction of support arch to reinforce the most affected areas. Suggestions for alternative material choices and alternative technical solutions.
