Sammanfattning: This thesis aim is to find out how two refugee groups are framed in the Swedish media. The refugee groups in focus are the Syrian refugees from the refugee crisis in 2015 and the Ukrainian refugees from the refugee crisis in 2022. Media outlets examined are news articles from Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen. The purpose of the thesis is to see if the framing differs and how the framing differs between the two refugee groups. The theory used in the thesis is the framing theory and the method used is discourse analysis. Previous research shows that migrants are often portrayed in a negative way in news reporting and that Muslim migrants tend to be the ethnic group that media reports negatively about. This study found that there is a difference in how the two refugee groups are portrayed but that the framing was not negative in the news articles.
