Twitch och tittares motivationer : Vilka motivationer Twitch användare har till att konsumera livesänt innehåll

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to research how users of the platform Twitch get affected by the consumption of the live produced content combined with interactive functions that the platform offers. Twitch offers the unique selling point compared to regular media where the consumers; the viewers have the possibility to interact with the livestreamer and get direct feedback as response as a viewer. We as different human beings search for different media and content to upfill certain gratifications, the study focuses on the uses & gratifications viewers search on Twitch. With direct correlation to the subject of gratifications by using Twitch as a media platform, the parasocial aspect is relevant to the subject, with how relations can build while interacting with the livestream and how this also plays a role in picking which streamers to watch. By using the method of quantitative surveys, which are sent through different places of communities with origins from Twitch on platforms such as Discord and Facebook, this subject will be researched and discussed about. The final results of the study shows that depending on the size of the streamer the viewer chooses to watch is based on what gratification the viewer is looking for. Smaller streams are primarily used for social interactions and communities where parasocial relations are more likely to build, and larger channels for regular entertainment and background activity. The combination of livestreaming and Let’s Play supports each other to upfill the viewers gratifications on Twitch.
