1. Estimating historic ranges of extinct scavenging birds from North America during the late Pleistocene using co-occurrence data from the fossil record
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : The aim of my study was to estimate and compare the historic range of nine scavenging birds from North America that went jointly extinct with their mammalian megafaunal prey in the Late Pleistocene. Although the severity and timing of their co-extinction are strongly correlated, there has been little analytical support in providing estimates for the possible geographic distribution of scavenging birds prior to the extinction event. 2.
3. Habitat types in relation to bird diversity in boreal forestry landscapes in Sweden
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : Boreal forests in Europe are intensively managed for timber and pulp production, resulting in decreased biodiversity, and in the long-term leading to a reduced number of functioning ecosystem services. To develop a more sustainable forest management it is important to investigate what features and habitat types are needed to preserve a high diversity of species within the forestry landscapes. 4. Birds in the City : Bird biodiversity in a boreal northern urban environment
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : Urbanization is a growing threat to biodiversity across the globe. As more and more habitats are being destroyed and species extinction rates are rising, we have started looking at how we might decrease this loss of biodiversity. One answer is changing our urban environments to more biodiversity friendly ones. LÄS MER
5. Predatoriska fåglars effekt på populationsdynamiken hos amfibier
Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhetSammanfattning : The global amphibian population is rapidly declining. Although many threats that affect amphibians are known, there are many contributing factors which are not fully understood. For adult amphibians, the largest part of the mortality comes from predation. LÄS MER
