  1. 1. OFFSHORE WIND RESOURCE ASSESSMENT, SITE SUITABILITY AND TECHNOLOGY SELECTION FOR BLIGH WATERS FIJI USING WINDPRO

    Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Kunal Kushal Dayal; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Fiji; offshore wind resource assessment; site suitability; technology and economics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to carry out offshore wind resource assessment, site suitability and technology selection for Bligh Waters in Fiji, and perform energy calculations for a 10-12 MW model offshore wind farm as well as carry out a simple economic analysis. The objectives were achieved by assessing the offshore wind resources employing atmospheric reanalysis data from the WindPRO online database performing the data correlation using the Measure Correlate Predict (MCP) module of WindPRO. 2. 2. An Assessment of the Discrepancy Between Operational Assessment and Wind Resource Assessment for a Wind Farm in Ireland

    Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Johnny Gallagher; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Wind Resource Assessment; WindSim; WindPro; WAsP; Wind Energy; CFD;

    Sammanfattning : An accurate wind resource assessment (WRA) is crucial in energy prediction as the power is directly proportional to the wind speed cubed. This thesis analyses the discrepancy between operational assessment and WRA for a wind farm located on a moderately complex terrain in Ireland. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Case Study of Uncertainties Connected to Long-term Correction of Wind Observations

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Elisabeth Saarnak; [2013]
    Nyckelord :wind climate; uncertainty; long-term correction; Measure-Correlate-Predict; MCP; reanalysis dataset; seasonal variation; on-site measurements; vindklimat; osäkerhet; normalårskorrigering; Measure-Correlate-Predict; MCP; återanalysdata; säsongsvariation; vindmätning;

    Sammanfattning : Good knowledge about on-site wind climate is necessary in wind power assessments. Due to yearly and natural variability, short-term on-site measurements do not themselves give information about the wind climate. Long-term reference data can be used to correct the short-term observations to better correspond to a normal year. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Uncertainty Analysis of Long Term Correction Methods for Annual Average Winds

    Master-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik

    Författare :Rickard Klinkert; [2012]
    Nyckelord :Uncertainty; Long-term-correction; Measure-Correlate-Predict; Sector-Bin; Synthetic time series; Reference dataset; Weather observation stations; WRF; MERRA; QuikSCAT; NCEP FNL; Bootstrap; sampling; North Sea.; Osäkerhet; Measure-Correlate-Predict; årsmedelvind; Sektor-Bin; Syntetiska tidsserier; referensdataset; väderobservationsstationer; WRF; MERRA; QuikSCAT; NCEP FNL; Bootstrap; sampling; Nordsjön.;

    Sammanfattning : For the construction of a wind farm, one needs to assess the wind resources of the considered site location. Using reference time series from numerical weather prediction models, global assimilation databases or observations close to the area considered, the on-site measured wind speeds and wind directions are corrected in order to represent the actual long-term wind conditions. 5. 5. Statistical analysis of wind data regarding long-term correction

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Christoffer Jonsson; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MATLAB; Measure-Correlate-Predict; Regression; NCAR NCEP; Seasonal dependence; Long-term Correction; Wind Analysis; MATLAB; Measure-Correlate-Predict; Regression; NCAR NCEP; Säsongsberoende; Långtidskorrigering; Vindanalys;

    Sammanfattning : The procedure of determining if a site is suitable for wind power production requiresconvincing statistical data describing the long-term behavior of the average wind speed.This can be achieved by measuring the wind speed for a short time period, e.g. a year,and after that a Measure-Correlate-Predict (MCP) method can be performed.
