  1. 1. Lejarfjället Garnet(?) Peridotite – Origin and Petrological Characterization of Symplectitic Aggregates in Ultramafic Rocks

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik

    Författare :Felicia Eriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :ultramafic; high-pressure metamorphism; peridotite; garnet breakdown; Scandinavian Caledonides; ultramafisk; högtrycks metamorfos; peridotit; granat; skandinaviska kaledoniderna;

    Sammanfattning : Ultramafic rocks are abundant in the Earth’s mantle but rare on the surface. Since no in-situ samples from the mantle can be collected, mantle rocks provide knowledge of mechanisms operating in the mantle and large-scale processes that brought them up to the surface. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Epidotization as an Effect of Fluid Rock Interaction, Recorded by a Granitoid From Hågadalen, Uppsala

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik

    Författare :Linn Barreby; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Fluids; Fluid Transport; Metamorphism; Metasomatism; Saussuritization; Epidote Group; Geology; Bedrock; Fluider; Fluidtransport; Metamorfos; Metasomatism; Saussuritisering; Epidot Gruppen; Geologi; Berggrund;

    Sammanfattning : A common driving mechanism of metamorphic processes, from which secondary mineralizations and structures develop in a protolith, is known to be a change of the immediate P-T environment that a rock resides in. A factor in this process, which is poorly understood, however, is how the presence of metamorphic fluids in a system, influences the alteration of primary igneous rocks. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Magma-Carbonate Interaction and CO2 Release: A Case Study from Carlingford Igneous Centre, Ireland

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Emelie Lagrosen; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Magma-carbonate interaction; CO2; calc-silicate; skarn; marble; Carlingford; SEM-EDX; XRF; LA-ICP-MS; Magma-karbonat-interaktion; CO2; kalk-silikat; skarn; marmor; Carlingford; SEM-EDX; XRF; LA-ICP-MS;

    Sammanfattning : Magma which intrudes into carbonate rich crust, interacts with the carbonate in several ways, for example by contact metamorphism and formation of marble or by metasomatism resulting in calc-silicate skarn. These processes release volatiles, such as CO2, from the carbonate and might thus cause climate change. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterization of the Hydrothermal Alteration around the Björkdal Au Deposit, Skellefte District, Sweden

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Författare :Madeleine Erneholm; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Gold Ore; Mine; Skellefte District; Sweden; Quartz Lode; Hydrothermal Alteration; Petrography; Lithogeochemistry; Intrusion-related Gold;

    Sammanfattning : Sixteen samples from 8 locations within and surrounding the Björkdal mine area in northern Sweden were chosen in order to reevaluate and characterize previous interpretations of the lithology and hydrothermal alteration. Geochemical analysis by ICP-MS was made in order to chemically classify the lithology of the area and petrological studies were made by study of thin sections and core logging. LÄS MER

  5. 5. REE mineralisation and metasomatic alteration in the Olserum metasediments

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Wayne Fullerton; [2014]
    Nyckelord :metasediment; metasomatism; mineralisation; monazite; Olserum; REE; xenotime; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The Olserum mineralisation is situated in the metasediments of the Västervik formation, which repre-sents the southernmost continental margin of the Svecokarelian Domain. After deposition between 1.88 – 1.85 Ga these sediments were subsided to a depth of about 10 km and intruded by a series of granitoid melts. LÄS MER
