  1. 1. FROM SPACE TO THE SUBSURFACE. Examining Relations Between Vegetation Indices and Local Groundwater Storage.

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Gustav Antonsson; [2023-11-06]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This study aimed to examine the relationship between vegetation indices, NDVI and NDWI, and groundwater levels in the county of Kalmar, utilizing correlation and regression analysis. Further, by examining related geospatial features the study aimed to interpret the statistical outcomes to identify significant temporal and spatial patterns. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Early-stage detection of bark beetle infested spruce forest stands using Sentinel-2 data and vegetation indices

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Karl Piltz; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Geomatics; Remote sensing; Bark beetle; Early-stage; Vegetation index; Sentinel-2; Spruce; Forestry; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The European spruce bark beetle is an insect that is often referred to as a pest. Responsible for the destruction of over 150 million m3 of Norwegian spruce forest in Europe over the last 50 years makes this insect one of the major disturbances to the forest industry. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Multi-scale topography assessment for site-specific drought management in Sweden

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Författare :Karl Knaebel; [2021]
    Nyckelord :drought; topography; precision agriculture; Sentinel-2; DSS;

    Sammanfattning : Globally, as well as in Sweden, the occurrence of droughts is expected to increase due to global warming. The drought summer of 2018 revealed the vulnerability of Sweden’s agriculture – with cereal yield losses of up to 50 %. Subsequently, the development of more resilience crop production systems to mitigate future droughts is required. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A remote-sensing approach to studying drought resistance in Swedish old-growth and production forests

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Julika Wolf; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; drought impacts; old-growth forests; forest management; remote sensing; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forest ecosystems are predicted to experience hotter and drier summers due to climate change, leading to more frequently reduced soil water availability and an increased risk of droughts, as was already the case in Northern Europe during the severe summer drought of 2018. Prolonged water stress in forest ecosystems can lead to impacts ranging from reduced photosynthesis to forest dieback. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Analysing the vegetation condition during the 2017 and 2018 growing seasons using indices derived from Sentinel-2 data : a case study over southern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Camilla Persson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; remote sensing; vegetation indices; drought; Geomatics; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The summer of 2017 was climatically close to normal in southern Sweden, whereas the following summer was unusually warm and dry. These two years therefore make an interesting case study for investigating the impact of severe drought on vegetation, particularly when considering that climate change is predicted to lead to an increased frequency of drought events in the study area.
