  1. 1. Evaluating the Performance of Propulsion System Elements in an Aerospace Company

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologi

    Författare :David Fredouelle; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Turbomachinery; injector; test campaign; cryogenic; rocket engine; test bench; cold flow; Turbomaskin; injektor; testkampanj; kryogen; raketmotor; testbänk; kallt flöde;

    Sammanfattning : This paper examines two examples of testing activities of sub-components of a 300kN methalox first-stage rocket engine developed by Pangea Aerospace, namely, theinjectors and the cryogenic pumps. One of the difficulties of these test campaignsis to evaluate the performances of these sub-components without using cryogenicpropellants and in conditions differing from flight conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Testing of AblativeMaterials as a Protective Coating for Rocket Launch Pads

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Gioele Daka; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Ablative Materials; Protective Coating; Rocket Launchpad; Refractory Materials; Oxyacetylene Torch; Slug Calorimeter; Ablativa material; Skyddande beläggning; Raketstartplatta; eldfast material; acetylensyrebrännare; kopparkalorimeter;

    Sammanfattning : As the space market grows, demand for sites to host rocket tests and to launch satellites to orbit is expected to increase. During these activities, the launch infrastructure needs to withstand the extreme thermal and mechanical loads associated with the exhaust of a rocket engine. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Plume-Spacecraft Interaction Analysis : Study on the Plume Effects of Hall-Effect Thrusters (HET) and High-Efficiency Multistage Plasma Thrusters (HEMPT).

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Josep Sentís Garzón; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Electric propulsion; Plasma plume; Plasma physics; SPIS; OpenPlume EP; Modelling; Charge-Exchange Collisions; Elektrisk framdrivning; Plasma plym; Plasmafysik; SPIS; OpenPlume EP; Modellering; Laddningsväxlingskollisioner;

    Sammanfattning : Plume-spacecraft interactions play an important role in the performance and integrity of spacecraft during their missions in space. The study encompasses a thruster’s plume simulation and its impact on spacecraft geometries to understand and predict the effects and consequences of the impingement on spacecraft surfaces, such as erosion, contamination, forces, and torques. 4. 4. Optimization and Additive Manufacturing for HPGP Rocket Engines

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologi

    Författare :Jessie Stachowicz; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Additive Manufacturing; Rocket Propulsion; Nozzle Design; Computational Fluid Dynamics; CFD; Nasa CEA; DED; PBF; High Performance Gas Propulsion; ADNbasedPropellant; CD Nozzle; Additiv tillverkning; raketframdrivningssytem; munstycksdesign; beräkningsflödesanalys; CFD; Nasa CEA; DED; PBF; högpresterande gasframdrivning; ADNbasedPropellant; Konvergerande-divergerande munstycken;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to investigate whether additive manufacturing is applicable in manufacturing the 1N thruster option that Bradford Ecaps offers. Therefore, the nozzle design is of particular interest as AM provides accessibilities to manufacturing complex structures. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Empirical Verification of an Acoustic Estimation of a Rocket Engine : A Comparison Between Estimated and Measured Noise of a Rocket Engine

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Elina Arvidsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Esrange Space Centre; Flame deflector; Acoustic estimation; Liquid rocket engine; Rocket Factory Augsburg; Jet acoustics; Esrange Space Centre; Flammdeflektor; Akustisk estimering; vätskedriven raketmotor; Rocket Factory Augsburg; strömningsakustik;

    Sammanfattning : The noise of a rocket engine is a complex and complicated phenomenon which has been studied for more than half a century [1]. There are many sources to this noise, but due to its great potential impact to the surrounding structures, including the vehicle itself, it is important to have a model to estimate the acoustic environment the engine produces.
