1. Concept investigation into Metal Plasma Source for High Powered Space Applications
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/RymdteknikSammanfattning : This thesis explores the potential of utilizing metal-based plasma sources as a sustainable solution for high-powered electric propulsion and its implications for future interplanetary travel. Focusing on the Vacuum Arc Thruster and the Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket engine, the study encompasses numerical simulations, analytical comparisons, and performance analyses to assess the feasibility of metal plasma fuels in space missions. 2. Optimization and Additive Manufacturing for HPGP Rocket Engines
Master-uppsats, KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologiSammanfattning : This thesis aims to investigate whether additive manufacturing is applicable in manufacturing the 1N thruster option that Bradford Ecaps offers. Therefore, the nozzle design is of particular interest as AM provides accessibilities to manufacturing complex structures. LÄS MER
3. Life Cycle Assessment of Electric Road Systems - Climate impact in comparison with battery electric vehicles, biogas vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Lunds universitet/Miljö- och energisystemSammanfattning : One third of Sweden's total annual greenhouse gas emissions originate from the transport sector today and great changes are thus needed in order to reach the net zero emission target by 2045. One of the most important measures discussed is an increased electrification of the transport sector and a solution with potential to contribute to this transition is electric road systems (ERS), where vehicles are charged dynamically. 4. Optical Analysis of the Hydrogen Cooling Film in High Pressure Combustion Chambers
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/RymdteknikSammanfattning : For performance optimisation of modern liquid cryogenic bipropellant rocket combustion chambers, one component which plays an important role in reducing the wall side heat flux, is the behaviour of the cooling film. At the Institute of Space Propulsion of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Lampoldshausen, hot test runs have been performed using the experimental combustion chamber BKM, to investigate the wall side heat flux which is -- among other factors -- dependent on cooling film properties. 5. Improving thermal fracture resistance in ceramic microcomponents for spacecraft propulsion
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Ångström Space Technology Centre (ÅSTC)Sammanfattning : Because of thermal transients and gradients occurring upon rapid heating or cooling, microcomponents made from High-Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (HTCC) often fail at temperatures far below what the materials can withstand per se. This work investigates how resistance to thermal fracture in HTCC microcomponents can be increased by improving the component design, aiming at increasing the thermal performance of a microthruster with integrated heaters.
