    Sammanfattning : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity.     Sammanfattning : Koherent Diffraktionsavbildning med en intensiv röntgenpuls från en Frielektronlaser har möjliggjort strukturbestämning av isolerade nanopartiklar som inte går att studera med hjälp av konventionella metoder, så som elektronmikroskopi. En mycket kort pulslängd tillsammans med spridningssignalens beroende av objektets elektroniska struktur medför också möjligheten att studera inducerad ultrasnabb dynamik med denna teknik. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the feasibility of a cavity based X-ray free electron laser in a fourth generation storage ring. The cavity design allows for modulation of the electron beam over several passes through the undulator. Simulations based on the PETRA IV facility are done to create the photon flux spectrum of a light pulse produced by an undulator. LÄS MER
