  1. 16. Seasonal community dynamics of macroinvertebrates in an Arctic stream

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Ellinor Jakobsson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Macroinvertebrates; Arctic; seasonality; community composition; Abisko;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic ecosystems are amongst the most vulnerable on Earth to ongoing climate change. While the responses to these changes are well studied on land, less is known about how aquatic communities may respond to a warmer arctic. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The declining significance of seagrass-associated invertebrate gleaning for providing food security in Kaole, Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Johanna Lauritsen; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable Development; food security; seagrass; small-scale fishery; invertebrates; Tanzania;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis applies the food security concept to assess the significance of seagrass-associated invertebrate gleaning for providing food security in Kaole, Tanzania. It assesses the availability, accessibility, utilisation and stability over time of this food source. To explore this, a multi-strategy research design was used. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Methane flux in the Doñana wetlands : Waterbird guano addition and benthicinvertebrate effects

    Magister-uppsats,

    Författare :Noa Ratia; [2019]
    Nyckelord :aquatic invertebrates; bottom-up effects; CH4; Doñana; greenhouse gases; mesocosm; methane; sediment cores; akvatiska evertebrater; bottom-up effekter; CH4; Doñana; mesokosm; metan; sedimentkärnor; växthusgaser;

    Sammanfattning : Wetlands are globally important biogeochemical hotspots, and their roles as either significant sources of greenhouse gas or carbon sinks are strongly controlled by environmental drivers such as carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus availability, which can stimulate emission of three greenhouse gases: nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4). Mounting evidence suggests that aquatic invertebrate activity can enhance wetland greenhouse gas flux, through bioturbation and bioirrigation of surrounding sediments. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Biodiversity of aquatic invertebrates in urban ponds: effects of land use

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Roberta Hedberg; [2019]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Urban ponds have the potential to hold large abundance and diversity of aquatic invertebrates, which could maintain an overall high biodiversity in the urban landscape. Little is known about how aquatic systems, such as ponds, are affected by the fast rate of urbanisation caused by an increasing human population together with the expansion of cities. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Importance of Fucus vesiculosus (bladderwrack) for coastal fish communities in the Baltic Sea

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och botanik

    Författare :Emma Mattsson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Baltic Sea; Fucus vesiculosus; fish communities; fish nurseries; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : Within temperate coastal seascapes, macroalgae provide habitats for different organisms such as invertebrates and fish. In analogy to seagrass meadows, macroalgae beds are known for their importance as fish nurseries. LÄS MER
