  1. 1. Reconstructing Past Climate by Grain Size and Magnetic Susceptibility Analysis of Belgium Loess From the Late Quaternary

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Susanna Åberg; [2022]
    Nyckelord :aeolian dust; Romont; Europe; true loess line; past climate reconstruction; vindtransporterat stoft; Romont; Europa; true loess line; rekonstruktion av tidigare klimat;

    Sammanfattning : Aeolian dust that gets deposited builds up loess sequences that cover 10% of the Earth's continents. Such sequences can be several metres thick with material deposited over thousands of years, and therefore act like archives of past climates. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aeolian and Pedogenic Processes of Loess in Southern England

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Ragna Orbe; [2019]
    Nyckelord :loess; Pegwell Bay; grain size distribution; magnetic susceptibility; past-climate reconstruction; lössavlagringar; Pegwell Bay; partikelstorleks distribution; magnetisk mottaglighet; historisk klimatrekonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : Loess is an aeolian sediment that can be utilized as a detailed proxy of past climate, since it is one of few sediments that is deposited directly from the atmosphere on land. Investigation of loess deposits can give understanding of past regional and local wind circulation patterns and velocities, atmospheric dustiness, as well as paleo-precipitation and weathering conditions. 3. 3. An environmental magnetic study of a marine sediment core from Disko Bugt, West Greenland : implications for ocean current variability

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Jonas Persson; [2008]
    Nyckelord :Disko Bugt; mineral magnetism; environmental magnetism; magnetic susceptibility; ARM; SIRM; IRM; HIRM; miljömagnetism; magnetisk mottaglighet; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : An 11 m long marine sediment core was collected during a June-July 2007 scientific cruise with the German research vessel R/V Maria Sibylla Merian to the area of Disko Bugt, western Greenland. The core, designated 343340-6-1, was examined using environmental magnetic methods and X-ray fluorescence. LÄS MER
