Sammanfattning: There is existing research that outlines how companies should conduct their recruitment process in order to successfully find the right candidate for the position they intend to recruit for. There is also research that advocates that specific knowledge and competences are crucial to be relevant in a recruitment process. This study deals with how the recruitment process works in companies operating in the banking and finance industry that are located in small towns and which candidates contribute to a person being hired. To study this, we have conducted nine semi-structured interviews and collected data in the form of job adverts from the respective companies that the respondents represent. Of the total nine respondents, seven of them work for a company located in a small town, while two of the respondents work for a company located in a large city. The results did not show any clear signs that the recruitment process is necessarily different in a small town versus a large city. However, something that was clearly shown in the results was that, according to the company's own opinion, a candidate must possess good social skills in order to be considered for recruitment at all.
