Detta är en Master-uppsats från Mittuniversitetet/Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper (HOV)

Sammanfattning: Background: Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) is a universal and school-based suicide prevention program for young people. The introduction of YAM is spreading among Swedish municipalities, but there is still a lack of research on the introduction of YAM in Sweden and what the supportive factors are behind a successful implementation. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to increase knowledge about factors that promote the introduction process in schools based on the experiences of introducing YAM in Sweden. Method: During the spring of 2023, nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with employees in regions and municipalities in Sweden. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and analyzed with content analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in two themes. Theme one was about Supporting organization with two subthemes: Forward planning, Division of responsibility and Anchoring. Theme two was about Collaboration with school staff with two subthemes: Functioning logistics and Responsiveness and openness. Conclusion: Throughout the results, a need is expressed for good cooperation between different parties within the region, the municipality and school, and that the individual parts needed for a successful implementation have a great impact on each other. Continued research needs to focus on increasing knowledge about school staff and students' acceptance of implementation. This increases the understanding of the responsiveness of doing YAM.
