Samhällsinformation för alla? : Betydelsen av tillgängligt språk för sfi-elever på en kommunal webbplats

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för bibliotek, information, pedagogik och IT

Sammanfattning: As a new citizen of a country, it is important to be able to absorb socially important information in an accessible way. For second language speakers, this can be challenging. The purpose of this study is to create knowledge about the importance of language in making information accessible on a selected municipality's website for people who are learning Swedish. Through this work, we wish to contribute to an increased understanding of the importance of language for accessibility on the web, what accessible language means and the user group's experiences of accessible language. The study builds on theories in information architecture and accessible language. It is based on a qualitative research strategy with quantitative elements. Despite some variations, the results show that the understanding of the website's texts is relatively good. These variations can, among other things, be linked to the readability index of the texts. We can see that active language work on a municipal website is important for making the information accessible and that an accessible language influences this user group's ability to absorb the information.
