PEDAGOGERS UPPLEVELSE AV HÄLSOARBETET INOM SKOLAN : En kvalitativ intervjustudie

Sammanfattning: A health-promoting workplace is created through the joint efforts of employers, employeesand the society. In today's society a lot of time is spent at work, and work is seen more as aprerequisite for health, by creating a sense of identity for the individual as well as socialstatus. Today many teachers feel stress at work, where threats and violence arecommonplace. If given the opportunity to switch careers, half of all the teachers wouldchoose a different profession.The purpose of the study is to examine how teachers at a private elementary school describetheir working environment and how they experience health promotion in their workplace.Seven qualitative individual semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the materialwas structured with a manifest content analysis. Categories and sub-categories created theend result. The results show that teachers experience a lack of continuous health promotionin the workplace. Few actions are made to improve health and the teachers feel that stress,threats and violence exist in the workplace.There is a belief that management together withteachers could create a good working environment and that management is open to theteachers’ proposals.The conclusions of the study are that the teachers experiencing stress, threats and violence inthe workplace. They feel that the discussion about health work is absent and do not think thatthe management shows enough interest in the matter. The teachers lack the commitment andencouragement from the management.
