Sammanfattning: MIND (2021) raises a warning flag for the growing problem concerning mental health. The arts has a positive effect on the public health, which is shown in a report ordered by the WHO (Fancourt & Finn, 2019) and Theorell (2009, 2014 och 2018) highlights music and its positive influence on people. Ruud (2001) claims that the arts also should take responsibility in strengthening the public health. With this as our foundation, this study’s purpose is to examine what factors affect the participants’ experiences of music lessons. The study was implemented through action science during three occasions where every occasion included choir and eurythmics lessons as well as a group interview. The participants in the study were four adult individuals with a great interest in music and a personal connection to one of the authors. Based on the results of the study, we could make the conclusion that the factors that contributed to increased percieved eudaimonia and quality of life were; conversation, community, play, legitimation and articulation of emotions. Effective tools to achieve these factors proved in the study to be reflection, musical play (preferably with props), musical memories and a safe and well explored room.
