Den säkerhetiserade migrationspolitiken

Sammanfattning: As the migration crisis occured, the Swedish prime minister Stefan Löfven declared that we should not build the walls, but instead we should help people fleeing from war. However, shortly after this, the number of asylum seekers in Sweden reached its highest level and it became a challenge for the Swedish asylum system and other vital societal functions. In order to deal with this situation, the state legislated the law on ”special measures for the serious danger to public order or internal security in the country”. Therefore, it was clear that the Swedish migration policy has become a security issue. The aim of this study is to analyze the securitizaton of the Swedish migration policy in the light of migration crisis. For the purpose of this analysis, The Copenhagen School is used as theoretical foundation and the discourse analysis metholodology is followed. The results of this study show that the securitization of migration policy has taken place and its process is analysed in detail here. Moreover, this descriptive study demonstrates that a security discourse was formed as an outcome of securitization process. These results are a contribution to a further research on this issue as well as the securitization in general.
