Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to explain and understand how the child perspective is used in child welfare investigations. The study was based on five interviews with social workers in a municipality in the southern part of Sweden. The main outcome of this study was that the concept child perspective is a multifaceted and complex concept, all the social workers had a different view on the child perspectives meaning. Regarding the discretion that social workers can create for a child perspective, all the social workers experienced that discretion was good in the sense that they could choose how the child perspective should be applied and to what extent. The opportunities to work with a child perspective where multiple. All social workers experienced the BBIC method as a major asset in the sense that it was easier to maintain the focus on the child. Something else that was also perceived to be a great opportunity for children's participation were social workers creativity and inventiveness. One obstacle that was recurring was a high workload and stress. Other obstacles were reluctant parents, but also BBIC could be a barrier in the sense that there is too much documentation requirements, creating less time for meetings with children and parents. Key-words: child perspective, discretion, participation, child protection, LAC (Looking after children system), social services and investigations.
