Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Högskolan i Gävle/Avdelningen för ekonomi

Sammanfattning: Title: Ruler technicians at workplaces.  Level: Student thesis, final assignment for bachelor’s degree in the subject Business Administration. Authors: Elias Yuonan & Zahraa Majeed Supervisor: Monika Wallmon & Svante Brunåker Aim: The purpose of this study is to gain an increased knowledge of ruler techniques such as the exercise of power in the workplace and how these techniques are handled by organizations and employees. Method: This study is based on a deductive approach and has used a qualitative method in the form of a semi-structured interview that was conducted by an HR business partner in the personnel department of one of the companies. In addition, observations of two companies in different industries have been done. Result and conclusions: The results show that all five ruler techniques that Berit Ås highlights occur and are used in both workplaces in different situations and contexts. Invisibility and ridicule are the most used of all ruler techniques. The interview with the bank's HR business partner shows that the company uses counter-strategies and confirmation techniques to promote a good work environment such as taking place and visibility.  Contribution of the thesis: The study leads to an increased understanding of how and when ruling techniques are used within organizations and which counter-strategies and confirmation techniques are used to combat these ruling techniques. Future research: For a higher generalizable conclusion, it would have been more interesting if more studies on the subject were carried out where several industries, leaders/managers and employees' perspectives are examined and observed within a longer period of time. Keywords: Exercise of power, Ruler techniques, Power, Berit Ås
