Älgmordet - En uppsats om hur ett psykologiskt fenomen kan påverka en polisiär utredning

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: When Agneta Westlund was found killed in September 2008 the initial information consisting of an autopsy report, a forensic report and hearings made the police believed that she had been killed with a mechanic tool, probably a riding mower. They found Agnetas husband Ingemar to be the prime suspect and it was not until experts were consulted and tests were made of Agnetas clothes that it could be confirmed that she had been killed by a moose. Though the evidence in the preliminary investigation implicated that Ingemar might be innocent the police was late to change their theory. This type of aversion to changing your mind can be called impressions resist change and states that the initial perception of a situation is difficult to change even though new information states the opposite. Through a biography, media reports and a podcast documentary information about the investigation has been collected. The police report is not public and the essay is therefore depended on secondary information sources. Through the essay it can be shown that the police investigation was affected by impressions resist change that made the process prolonged.
