Sammanfattning: In the globalised world there is a keen competition market prevailing, which request higher demands on the entrepreneurs within the building sector. Research shows that 30-35 % of the production costs on the building sites is waste, which means non-profit value for the costumer. This example shows both hidden and visible costs, which has been identified on building constructions sites. To reduce these costs, is a step in the right direction to achieve a less expensive building industry. The aim of the examination paper is to examine the application and outlook accordance of the Lean-concept within the building industry and give recommendations for improvement. To find out in what extent Lean is applied on this specific building site, has an empiric study been conducted. The term Lean in the building context is known as Lean Construction, which has its theoretical background in Lean Production and Lean Thinking. To create a more efficient process within the manufacturing industry has the successful Toyota Production System (TPS) concept been implemented, which is a precursor to the Lean Production also known as the Toyota model. A further development of Lean Production is Lean Thinking which also are applied in other line of business then the manufactory industry. Lean management is a philosophy where the waste in the production is minimised and transformed into a more effective production system. The fundamental idea about Lean is not to work harder but smarter. To achieves that it's necessary to work with continues improvements by applying different Lean-tools, by identify and eliminate waste. Waste is non-profit activities which doesn't gain any value to the customer but still consumes resources. When implementing Lean in the business corporation an analyse of how an potentiate can achieve from its own production process. Some important elements within Lean is waste, kaizen, Just-in-time, supplier collaboration, standardisation, value stream and outlook. The study indicates that muda can be eliminated within the organisation by a more efficient handling of material, planning and communication. Further-more the inquires shows differences in the attitude towards Lean between construction workers and supervisors/site managers. Even though there are contradiction towards the attitude between the both professions, the study point that the business can broaden its mind by implement Lean-tools.
