Svensk säkerhetspolitik i ett vägskäl?

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: The development during the Crimea crisis as well as Russia´s escalating numbers and extent of exercises has put Swedish security policy on the agenda after being almost invisible for over a decade. This work aims to investigate on which fundament Swedish security policy rests and why Sweden choose to stand outside an alliance. The answers then also answers the main question; how to understand Sweden´s security policy in today´s Europe. To do this, I examine alliances in general, and NATO in specific from a scientific point of view whereas I look upon the subjects from realistic and liberalistic perspective. Then I examine what NATO is, where it´s going and how Sweden´s relationship with NATO looks like. In the analysis I use this knowledge on a number of variables that is essential for examine any security policy. The variables are given a value as realistic or liberalistic and summed up to answer on what ground the security policy rests. This also gives the reason to why Sweden isn´t a part of a military alliance and thereby how we can understand Sweden´s choice and it´s security policy.
