Sammanfattning: According to the curriculum of the preschool, one of it's purposes is to work with equality, and to challenge traditional gender roles. Despite this, many preschools still lack active work with gender/equality – the difference amongst pre-schools is sometimes extreme. I tried to find elements that influence preschool teachers to choose to work with gender and equality. Some of these elements also have a restricting effect on the possibilities of working with these issues. I made semi-structured interviews with preschool teachers in Malmö. I chose to focus on Malmö, to show how big the differences can be within the same city. But foremost because Malmö Stad have decided to become completely equal by 2020. My analysis is based on theories of organizations and gender. What I see is that preschool teachers' possibilities and restrictions, above all, is effected by organizational structures. Joint with social norms and ways of interpreting the terms, this has the biggest effect on the work with gender/equality. The most determining factor for preschool teachers' work with equality and gender seems to be personal interest in, and commitment to these issues. The biggest problem seems to be the indistinct description on what it really means to work with gender/equality.
