Med sikte på det gemensamma bästa: Om relationen mellan post-liberalism och kristdemokrati

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: The subject of this thesis is the relationship between post-liberalism and Christian democracy. The former an ideational current that has developed during the last decade, primarily in an Anglo-Saxon context, and the latter one of the most influential ideologies in Europe since WWII, yet surprisingly under-researched. Post-liberalism starts with a critique against liberalism, but some post-liberals also deliver a political or ideological alternative which initially seem to have certain characteristics in common with Christian democracy justifying closer investigation. The relationship between post-liberalism and Christian democracy is studied by employing the method of descriptive ideational analysis. I begin by identifying and describing core concepts in Christian democracy, namely personalism, subsidiarity and solidarity, which serve as a starting point for the later analysis. I then move on to the analysis where I review how post-liberal thinkers describe the central ideological content of post-liberalism and compare this to the central principles and ideas of Christian democracy. The conclusion of this analysis is that post-liberalism can be viewed as an Anglo-Saxon version or reformulation of Christian democracy.
