Sammanfattning: Background: Individuals who are being investigated for dementia disease are increasing  in Sweden as the average life expectancy of the population is raising. Previous science shows that a decisive factor in providing proper caring holistic care is that knowledge about dementia diseases is increasing. By providing the right support and efforts early in the dementia disease, the opportunities for better quality of life for both the patient and the relatives increase. Aim: To describe the patients' experience of being cared for in the early palliative phase of dementia care. Method: A systematic literature study with a descriptive synthesis. Results: Two themes emerged in the analysis: individual in a context and challenges for the individual. Motivation increased and uncertainty decreased as the patient participated in activities with individuals in a situation similar to their own. Furthermore, the results showed that the patient's experience is that loneliness could be positive if it´s self-chosen or lead to isolation. Conclusion: Experiences shared by patients with dementia are important for the healthcare staff to work individually with the patient. Great communication and individual solutions in a patient friendly environment that promotes collaboration with both patients with dementia and relatives.
