Att skriva fram samtycke - En feministiskt poststrukturalistisk studie av samtycke i Skam karaktärerna Noora och Williams relation

Sammanfattning: Based on a feminist post-structuralist framework, and a media analytical input, this thesis examines how consent is produced, handled and understood in the relationship between the two characters Noora and William from the Norwegian web series Skam. Through a feminist film analysis and the method of close reading, this thesis has been able to construct the analysis based on four sub-questions that follow a relatively chronological order of the material. The thesis conclusion is that consent is “spelled out” through heterosexual ideas about the dominant man and the passive woman. The heterosexual power relations that are produced and reproduced in the context of the characters relationship are being normalized and romanticized. The problem in William's conceptualization of consent is presented as Noora's own fault and for which she is responsible, which leads to her submitting to William's will. This indicates that the series has made a selection of representations of gender that are expressed in how consent is "spelled out" in the relationship. By deconstructing the presentation and construction of gender, consent in the characters relationship can be understood as how femininity, masculinity and power relations are expressed and represented in media.
