Framgångsfaktorer i lokalt klimatarbete - En fallstudie av Lunds arbete med hållbara transporter

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

Sammanfattning: The ongoing climate change may have devastating consequences all over the world. Most scientists are in agreement that the cause of this global environmental problem is anthropogenic releases of greenhouse gases, of which the main contributor is the combustion of fossil fuels. In order to limit these effects, it is imperative to take action immediately, globally as well as locally. Earlier research suggests that there are a few factors that are crucial to obtain successful municipal environmental, climate or sustainability work. By examining these factors one can contribute to a greater understanding of what lies behind successful environmental work and thereby help to focus all means correctly in future environmental work. The purpose of this study was to examine these factors of success through a case study of the municipality of Lund and their work with LundaMaTs, a strategy of sustainable transportation. Through interviews and a thorough examination of relevant documents, the factors of success in LundaMaTs were examined. Furthermore, a comparison between the factors of success in LundaMaTs and those according to previous research was made. This study confirmed the results of previous research. The results of the study showed that driven and dedicated individuals, anchoring the work at a political level, substantial documentation, measurable targets, access to state grants, cooperation within as well as outside the organization were all factors of success in LundaMaTs as well as according to previous research. In addition to the previous research, this study highlighted that the specific conditions in Lund, such as the composition of the population and the mild weather, constitute additional factors of success. Even though this study showed great resemblance between the factors of success in LundaMaTs and those according to previous research it became clear that the importance of the individual factors may vary from case to case.
