1. Modeling wave behavior with linear wave theory
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysikSammanfattning : This thesis aimed to look at the behaviours of the water beneath waves from a modeling and simulations point of view. We have investigated how to use Linear wave theory (LWT) to model the kinematic movements in water governed by free ocean waves. The model assumes the surface to consist of a superposition of sinusoidal waves. LÄS MER
2. A Geophysical Survey of Northern Utö
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaperSammanfattning : A geophysical investigation on the northern part of Utö was carried out between 2020 and 2021 to asses the extent of the iron ore (BIFs) and the iron bearing sulfides that have been surveyed and mined in the past. The survey using analog field equipment combined magnetometry, gravimetry, susceptibility, leveling, density, and thin-section microscopy. LÄS MER
3. Methods for determining focal point and delay for ultrasound arrays and multichannel electronics
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknikSammanfattning : High intensity focused ultrasound is a growing technique for tissue ablation, among other uses, and given its destructive capabilities, there is a need for control of where the energy is delivered. There exist a number of methods for focusing such ultrasound arrays, but these often assume prior knowledge of the impulse response, or require extensive full-system simulations. LÄS MER
4. Using a GIS to enable an economic, land use and energy output comparison between small wind powered turbines and large-scale wind farms: the case of Oslo, Norway.
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Responding to an identified knowledge gap, the study aims to determine if smaller wind turbines located on top of existing urban buildings are more resource efficient (land utilization and economically) than large scale wind farms. To answer this question, using a GIS, the resource efficiency of the Roan wind farm in Northern Norway was compared to a theoretical modeled installation of small-scale wind turbines on top of buildings within a 2km radius study zone in central Oslo. 5. Unearthing the social-ecological cascades of the fall armyworm invasion: A computer-assisted text analysis of digital news articles
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Stockholm Resilience CentreSammanfattning : Understanding the complex nature of social-ecological cascades, or chain reactions of events that lead to widespread change in a system, is crucial for navigating the challenges they present. Emerging pests and pathogens, such as the fall armyworm, provide an opportunity to study these cascades in greater detail. LÄS MER
