  1. 6. Event categorisation and Machine-learning Techniques in Searches for Higgs Boson Pairs in the ATLAS Experiment at the LHC

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Milads Emadi; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Particle Physics; ATLAS; BDT; Boosted Decision Tree; Decision Tree; Optimization; Machine Learning; Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the pair production of Higgs bosons (di-Higgs events) at the ATLAS experiment in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), focusing on the channel where one Higgs boson decays into two bottom quarks and the other decays into two tau leptons. The main objective was to determine whether introducing a split in the invariant mass of the decay products from the two Higgs bosons (the di-Higgs mass) and using this as an analysis variable improves the sensitivity of the Boosted Decision Tree (BDT) machine learning algorithm to the di-Higgs signal. 2. 7. Värmereducerande åtgärder för urbana mikroklimat

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (from 130101)

    Författare :Alice Ljungdahl; Ida Grundh; [2023]
    Nyckelord :klimatförändringar; värmeböljor; värmeöar; värmeöeffekt; klimatanpassning; temperaturreglering; värmereducerande åtgärder; värmereducering; mikroklimat; vegetation; skugga;

    Sammanfattning : Det står klart att rådande klimatförändringar har lett och kommer i framtiden att leda till ökade temperaturer samt fler och längre perioder av värmeböljor. Ökade temperaturer i kombination med värmeöeffekter medför att urbana miljöer är särskilt utsatta och människor som väljer att bosätta sig på sådana platser riskerar allvarliga konsekvenser när det gäller hälsa och välbefinnande. 3. 8. Bluegreengrey (BGG) solution for future climate and flood-resilient urban drainage network by enhancing the natural hydrological cycle

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Författare :Adnan Asif Rifat; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Bluegreengrey; Sustainable stormwater; Basement flooding; Urban flooding; Pipe Network; BGG; Climate change; Hydrology; Mike .; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A loop of urbanization, increasing impervious surface in urban areas, increasing temperature, rainfall, surface runoff and flooding, and lack of new spaces have been adding challenges to urban drainage systems for decades. The climate change impacts are exposing the existing vulnerable conventional urban drainage systems to more challenges in the future. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Consequences of using Quantitative Risk Assessment as a verification tool

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik

    Författare :Joey Öström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Quantitative Risk Assessment; QRA; performance-based design; verification tool; performance solution; performance requirements; fire risk assessment; residential building; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : What are the consequences of using Quantitative risk assessment (QRA) as a verification tool? Performance-based building codes differ from prescriptive-based codes in that they define specific objectives to be met, enabling the building designer to choose which solution to use so long it meets the objectives. This master’s thesis explores the consequences of using QRA as a verification tool in comparison to existing verification methods currently in use in Australia. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Jämförelse av trä och betong i ett flerbostadshus

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Författare :Amanda Göthlin; Simon Larsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : An ongoing discussion today is the environmental impact of concrete and whether Cementa should get to continue to mine limestone on Gotland despite its impact on the local ground water. Previous research has shown that half of the apartment buildings could be built with wood, which is considered to be a more environmentally friendly material than concrete. LÄS MER
