   Sammanfattning : In this study, the role that construction, architecture and infrastructure plays in efforts to advance within a global hierarchy of cities, as well as effects on the people behind the construction, are explored through the curious cases of Qatar and Singapore. Although drastically different in most cultural, geographical and historical aspects, these two cases demonstrate clear similarities in their strategies to obtain international status and acquire capital.    Sammanfattning : Denna uppsats är en fallstudie av asylhandläggare på Migrationsverkets handlingsutrymme mellan 2012-2020. Ambitionen med studien är att undersöka hur handläggarnas handlingsutrymme förändras under perioder av hög respektive låg ärendebelastning, med bakgrund till flyktingkrisen i mitten på 2010-talet då över 160 000 människor kom att söka asyl (SCB 2022).
