  1. 1. Development of a guide system for free neutron oscillation searches at the European Spallation Source

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Lunds Tekniska Högskola; Lunds universitet/European Spallation Source ESS AB

    Författare :Linnéa Björk; [2023]
    Nyckelord :ESS; neutrons; dark matter; antimatter; neutron guides; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this project, a neutron delivery system for the study of free neutron oscillations at the HIBEAM beamline at the European Spallation Source (ESS) has been developed. The HIBEAM experiment is part of a two-stage program at ESS which will address open questions in physics; specifically the nature of dark matter and the observed asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the Universe. 2. 2. Phenomenological exploration of flavored Grand Unification through high-scale matching and renormalization group flow

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Hector Tiblom; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Grand Unification; GUT; trinification; spontaneous symmetry breaking; effective field theory; EFT; high-scale matching; renormalization group flow; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM), and its unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces has inspired the search for a Grand Unified Theory (GUT), that dynamically reduces to the SM at low energies. In this work, we consider one such GUT, based on the trinification model [SU(3)]³ with an additional local SU(2) family symmetry, that is then broken directly to the gauge symmetry group of the SM. 3. 3. Void Evolution and Cosmic Star Formation

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Författare :Joel Wasserman; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Void; Void Evolution; Cosmic Void; Star Formation Rate; Star Formation History; Cosmic Star Formation; Cosmology; Spherical Evolution Model; SvdW; Vdn; Excursion Set Theory; Excursion Set Formalism; Astrophysics; Astronomy; Cosmic Web; Matter Transfer; Tomrum; Tomrumsutveckling; Kosmiska Tomrum; Stjärnbildningshastighet; Stjärnbildningshistorik; Kosmisk stjärnbildning; Kosmologi; Sfärisk Evolutionsmodell; SvdW; Vdn; Exkursionsset teori; Exkursionsset Formalism; Astrofysik; Astronomi; Kosmiska Spindelnätet; Masstransport;

    Sammanfattning : The rate at which stars have formed throughout the history of theuniverse is not constant, it started out slow, increased until around redshift ∼ 2 when it reversed and became slower again. The reason for this behaviour is still being investigated with various models and simulations usually based upon dark matter halos. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Validation of simulation with enhanced kaon production to investigate kaon background for LDMX

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Lisa Andersson Loman; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Dark matter; experimental physics; simulations; kaons; particle physics; LDMX; background studies; mörk materia; partikelfysik; kaoner; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Dark matter is one of our universe’s largest mysteries and very little is known about what it is. One of the dominating theories, that it originates from an early universe thermal relic, indicates that it has interaction with the Standard Model. LÄS MER

  5. 5. High Redshift Galaxies with JWST and Euclid

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Författare :Emma Lundqvist; [2022]
    Nyckelord :jwst; euclid; high redshift galaxies; early galaxies; GalaxyMC; jwst; euclid; tidiga galaxer; GalaxyMC;

    Sammanfattning : This projects studies which early galaxy populations will be visible using the telescopes JWST and Euclid. Galaxy luminosity functions are calculated for different redshifts, with the galaxy number density as a function of apparent magnitude. The apparent magnitude is used to enable easy comparisons with the observational limits of JWST and Euclid. LÄS MER
