  1. 1. Turning Night into Day : Does Skyglow affect Bat Activity and Timing of Emergence?

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Torge Gerwin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Skyglow; Bats; Light pollution; Bat activity; Bat emergence; Riparian forest; Landscape composition; Multi-scale landscape; Landscape management; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : Artificial brightness of the night sky caused by the backscatter of artificial light in the atmosphere is a consequence of ongoing urbanization. Skyglow covers 88 % of Europe’s surface and poses significant threats to biodiversity. Extensive research on responses of bats to direct light pollution already revealed significant impacts. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bat activity at a major road in Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Amanda Sjölund; [2015]
    Nyckelord :bat activity; fragmentation; road; Myotis; Eptesicus; Nyctalus; Pipistrellus; Chiroptera;

    Sammanfattning : Humans have changed ecosystems steadily over the years, leading to habitat fragmentation and loss. Road- and railroad networks are rapidly expanding around the world and disintegrating natural landscapes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. How bats are affected by wind turbines

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i biologi

    Författare :Maja Jonholm; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In this study a wind power park of five turbines, Gummaråsen, in the south west of Sweden have been investigated to find out if bats fly in the height of the rotor blades, what species are present and the abundance of bats, at the site. The result showed that no bats was flying close to the wind power turbine, at the height of the nacelle (machine housing) and rotor blades, but bats were present closer to the ground. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Bat species richness and activity in forest habitats close to lakes versus far from lakes,  in Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för biologi och miljö (BOM)

    Författare :Silvia Zuniga; [2013]
    Nyckelord :bats; bat species richness; bat activity; lakes; wind farming; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : The long-term effects of large-scale changes in forestry, agriculture and other land use on habitats and the large-scale expansion of wind farming  affects bats foraging environments. In order to predict consequences of exploitations on local bat species and populations, good surveys are important. LÄS MER
