  1. 6. Turbulence Intensity During Low-Level Jets in the Baltic Sea

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Thomasson August; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Low-Level Jet; Turbulence intensity; Shear sheltering; LiDAR; Baltic Sea; Low-Level Jet; Turbulensintesitet; Shear sheltering; LiDAR; Östersjön;

    Sammanfattning : Low-level jets (LLJs) are local wind speed maximums in the atmospheric boundary layer. In the Baltic Sea, LLJs are frequently occurring in spring and summer. It is an important phenomena to consider for wind energy parks, and changes in turbulence during the jets can effect the efficiency of said parks. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Deep learning for non-intrusive sensing in turbulence with passive scalars

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Strömningsmekanik och Teknisk Akustik

    Författare :Arivazhagan Geetha Balasubramanian; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Turbulent boundary layer; passive scalar; direct numerical simulation; Prandtl number; Machine learning; convolutional neural network; Turbulent gränsskikt; passiv skalär; direkt numerisk simulering; Prandtl-nummer; maskininlärning; faltningsneurala nätverk;

    Sammanfattning : The near-wall modelling of turbulent flows has been an active field of research due to the computational cost associated with the direct numerical simulations of such flow, which are characterized by a wide range of length and time scales. With the recent advancements in technological capabilities, the availability of high-fidelity data has enabled the construction of data-driven approaches to model turbulence. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Improving gas flow in gas atomization

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Zhiwei Qiu; [2021]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Gas atomization is a cost-effective processing method to produce fine, spheroidized metal powders. During the process, high velocity jets of gas are sprayed at a molten metal stream to break it into small droplets, which will solidify and form the powder particles. LÄS MER

  4. 9. External Heat Transfer Coefficient Predictions on a Transonic Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Författare :Daniel Enico; [2021]
    Nyckelord :CFD; LS89; transonic turbine; transition; transition model; turbulence decay; turbulence intensity; length scale; turbulence characteristics; HTC; external heat transfer coefficient; Steelant-Dick postulation;

    Sammanfattning : The high turbine inlet temperature of modern gas turbines poses a challenge to the material used in the turbine blading of the primary stages. Mechanical failure mechanisms are more pronounced at these high temperatures, setting the lifetime of the blade. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Characterisation of Low-Level Jets and their Influence on Low-Level Clouds over the Baltic Sea; Östergarnsholm Observatory, Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik

    Författare :Johan Lundberg; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Low-level jets; Low-level clouds; LLJs; LLCs; Boundary layer; ABL; CBH; Lidar; Ceilometer; Turbulent intensity; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, about two years of data from Östergarnsholm in the Baltic Sea are used to analyse offshore low-level clouds (LLCs) influenced by low-level jets (LLJs) in the marine atmospheric boundary layer. The LLJs are passages of strong horizontal winds near the surface and are measured using a Doppler LiDAR, which provides information about the wind speed and wind direction up to 300 meters. LÄS MER
