  1. 1. Generation of attosecond X-ray pulses in free-electron lasers using electron energy modulation and undulator tapering

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/FREIA

    Författare :Karl-Fredrik Boholm Kylesten; [2023]
    Nyckelord :attosecond; free-electron laser; XFEL; self-amplified spontaneous emission; SASE; tapering; energy modulation;

    Sammanfattning : Free-electron lasers (FELs) are among the world's most intense artificial artificial sources of coherent light and are tunable to various wavelengths, including the X-ray spectrum. X-ray FELs (XFELs) are extremely useful for diffraction experiments to study molecules, materials, and quantum systems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Feasibility Study of X-ray Free Electron Lasers in Fourth Generation Storage Rings

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/MAX IV-laboratoriet

    Författare :Jordis Hansen; [2023]
    Nyckelord :XFEL; Storage Ring; Synchrotron Radiation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the feasibility of a cavity based X-ray free electron laser in a fourth generation storage ring. The cavity design allows for modulation of the electron beam over several passes through the undulator. Simulations based on the PETRA IV facility are done to create the photon flux spectrum of a light pulse produced by an undulator. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Commissioning of the HIPPIE beamline

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Timothy Lewis; [2017]
    Nyckelord :MAX IV; Synchrotron; Diagnostics; HIPPIE; Undulator spectrum; Gas absoption spectra; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The MAX IV synchrotron light source in Lund, Sweden is being commissioned for full operation in late 2017. The HIPPIE beamline will provide research groups with a state of the art machine for ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy. LÄS MER
