  1. 1. Petrophysical Properties of Rocks in Central Kiruna Mining District, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Simon Peter Dagbui; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Kiruna mining district; Common earth model; petrophysics; density; AMS; complex electrical resistivity; NRM; magnetization; IOA; Kirunavaara Mineralization;

    Sammanfattning : High economic and metallogenic significance of northern Norrbotten ore district in Sweden which hosts Kiruna mining district makes it a very important ore district in the world. Northern Norrbotten ore district contributes a combined 90 percent of iron production in Europe. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Petrography of impactites from the Dellen impact structure, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Robert Mroczek; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Dellen; Impact; structure; magnetite; apatite; shock waves; shock-metamorphic; features; Impactite; petrography; scanning electron microscope; SEM; geology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Identification and characterization of shock-metamorphic features in hypervelocity impact craters is important for our understanding of how shock waves interact with geologic materials and how impact craters form, which in turn is essential to our understanding of what role impact cratering played in the development of our solar system. Of particular interest are accessory minerals like apatite, which contains various volatiles that can affect the atmosphere of a body, or magnetite whose magnetic properties constitute a remote sensing indicator which allows us to study and understand the internal structures of distant bodies. 3. 3. Spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, northern Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Henriette Nishimwe; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Mobilization; Mount Meru; Geochemical and Spatial Modelling; Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Mobilization; Mount Meru; Geochemical and Spatial Modelling;

    Sammanfattning : In Tanzania, approximately 76% of the drinking water supplies is dependent on groundwater sources. However, the groundwater in north Tanzania is susceptible to contamination by arsenic and fluoride. This study examines the spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, located in northern Tanzania. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Geological characterization of rock samples by LIBS and ME-XRT analytical techniques

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Sammanfattning : One of the major challenges in earth sciences and mineral exploration has been to determine with high accuracy and at a fast rate the elemental composition as well as the general chemistry of a rock sample. Many analytical techniques e.g. LÄS MER

  5. 5. EBSD Investigation of High-Temperature Magnetite from Apatite-Iron-Oxide Deposits: Implications for the Formation of Giant Kiruna-Type Deposits

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik

    Författare :Jens Henriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Kiruna-type deposit; electron backscattered diffraction; crystal settling; Fe-O systematics; crystal alignment;

    Sammanfattning : European iron production is to a large extent dependant on massive Kiruna type apatite-iron ore deposits. In this contribution, high-temperature magnetite samples from apatite-iron-oxide deposits are investigated by means of Electron Backscattered Diffraction. However, the origin of Kiruna-type deposits is still unresolved. LÄS MER
