  1. 6. Consequences of alternative forest management in riparian buffer zones : a GIS analysis

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Elijah Ourth; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Riparian buffer zones; Continuous cover forestry; CCF; Hyggesfritt; Geographical information system; Ditch network maintenance; Ditch; Stream; Natural channel;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing pressure from policymakers and the general public to conduct alternative forest management throughout the European Union (EU), Sweden needs to find ways to best prioritize the implementation of this alternative management. Alternative management is a term used to describe alternative management methods to clear-cut rotation forestry and can include silvicultural methods such as continuous cover forestry, management increasing proportion tree diversity and presence of broadleaves, and extended rotation lengths. 2. 7. Influence of structural complexity of the Rumperöd forest on evapotranspiration

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Madeleine Durdek; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Forest structural complexity; evapotranspiration; vapour pressure deficit; eddy covariance; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The influence of Forest Structural Complexity (FSC) on evapotranspiration (ET) was investigated in a mixed forest of Southern Sweden where micrometeorological Eddy Covariance (EC) measurements were conducted for the years 2015 to 2022. For each year, the top 25% of Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD) were selected to emphasize the response of ET to the driest atmospheric conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Evaluating modelled natural capital values for planning processes: A case study in Stockholm, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Vania Diaz Gardell; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; Natural Capital; Ecosystem Services; Biodiversity; Environmental Models; Urban Planning; Planning Process; Social Sciences; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : A commonly proposed principle for reducing impact on natural capital within the planning process is the mitigation hierarchy. The mitigation hierarchy means that impacts should primarily be avoided, otherwise minimized, and when this is not possible - restored or compensated according to an equivalency- and proximity principle. 4. 9. En jämförelse av föryngringsmetoderna mekanisk sådd av tall och naturlig föryngring av tall

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/School for Forest Management

    Författare :Felix Johansson; Soeren Meyer-Bothling; [2023]
    Nyckelord :höjdskillnad; Pinus sylvestris; återbeskogning;

    Sammanfattning : Föryngring med mekanisk sådd och naturlig föryngring är välbeprövade föryngringsmetoder i svenskt skogsbruk och uppgår idag till tre respektive åtta procent av den totala föryngringsarealen. För att ge en god kvantitativ effekt på plantornas överlevnad och höjdtillväxt används det i stor omfattning någon form av markberedning för att blottlägga mineraljorden och skapa en bättre groningspunkt för plantan. 5. 10. Differences and similarities in stand characteristics after prescribed burning and wildfire : implications for conservation of forest biodiversity

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Hannah Sophie Jakob; [2023]
    Nyckelord :coarse woody debris; conservation; biodiversity; boreal forest; Daldinia loculata; Fennoscandia; prescribed burning; regeneration; wildfire; woodpecker;

    Sammanfattning : 1. Wildfires are a natural disturbance in the boreal forests of Fennoscandia and have shaped and formed forests in the past, resulting in very heterogeneous forests containing large amounts of dead and living trees in various age classes. LÄS MER
