    Sammanfattning : This thesis empirically examines the impact of democratic transitions on innovation using a difference-in-differences method on a panel of 168 countries from 1960 to 2019. Patents, R&D expenditure, and scientific articles are employed as proxies for innovation. The results indicate that democratisations have a positive effect on patents. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In trying to respond to the covid19 pandemic, the government in nascent democracies like Nigeria and Ghana initiated measures and policies to mitigate the adverse effect of the pandemic. Measures such as lockdowns, public health measures and social distancing measures, were enacted although these measures were needed but the implementation of these measures affected democratic principles especially the egalitarian principle of democracy.
