1. Reconstruction of Fire Spread with a Markov Random Field Mixture Model
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistikSammanfattning : This thesis revolves around reconstructing fire sizes for historical fires in Jämtgaveln, Sweden based on data of fire scars in trees. We propose a Hidden Markov Model (HMM), where the domain is divided into quadratic grid cells of 250 $\times$ 250 m and with these grid cells we associate a binary Markov random field taking values 0 or 1 corresponding to no fire and fire respectively. 2. Att läsa brandspår i skogslandskapet: olika underlag för att förstå naturlandskapets branddynamik
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/School for Forest ManagementSammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to explore different methods to understand the local history of past fire disturbance regimes in a forest management unit. Focusing on the Bergslagen region in south-central Sweden, which has a very long history of forest management, the frequency of occurrence of fire scars on living trees, burned wood, and macroscopic charcoal in the litter layer and in small peat bogs, were studied in landscape strata different with different biophysical characteristics affecting the probability of fire. 3. Past and present Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) regenaration along site type gradients in Bialowieza Forest, Poland
Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research CentreSammanfattning : Since 1921 the Białowieża National Park (BNP)/Poland strictly protects one of the bestpreserved ancient lowland forests of the European temperate zone, with many stands close tonatural character. Within the reserve, old Pinus sylvestris trees grow on fertile soils in a mixeddeciduous forest (oak-lime-hornbeam forest Tilio-Carpinetum) with a very rich and densefield layer. LÄS MER
4. Fire impact in the wood quality and a fertilization experiment in Eucalyptus plantations in Guangxi, southern China
Magister-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest ProductsSammanfattning : Chinas government has a multifunctional program for a more sustainable forestry since 2000. This six key forest programs goal is to develop a more sustainable forest sector but also take environment consideration. The state forest administration in China has decided to create 5.8 million hectare of fast growing and high yield forest. LÄS MER
5. Att återställa en naturlig ordning : skogshistoria och restaureringsbränning i Långsidbergets naturreservat
L3-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and ManagementSammanfattning : During the late 1800s fire suppression became increasingly effective in northern Sweden which led to decreased areas of fire-disturbed woodland and successive changes in the structure of forests. In the long run this can pose a serious threat to fire-dependent and fire-favored species. LÄS MER
