  1. 1. Future climate suitability of shade trees in cocoa agroforestry systems in West Africa and shade tree diversity’s impact on farm microclimate : A Minor Field Study

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Jonna Halonen; [2023]
    Nyckelord :species distribution modeling; cocoa agroforestry; shade trees; West Africa; microclimate; distributionsmodell; kakaoskogslantbruk; skuggträd; Västafrika; mikroklimat;

    Sammanfattning : Shade trees’ implementation into cocoa agroforestry systems in tropical West Africa has proven to have a high potential in increasing farm resilience and mitigating climate change. However, no studies have yet examined the potential future climate suitability for shade trees in the region, which is important when deciding which shade trees to implement. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Carabidocoenoses and Fragments of Forests : exploring the Carabid Landscape

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Simon Heinrich Arns; [2023]
    Nyckelord :biodiversity; Carabidae; carabid diversity; entomology; Fragmentation; Fragstats; habitat fragmentation; habitat Heterogeneity; landscape; landscape ecology; landscape Heterogeneity; pitfall trap; quantifying fragmentation;

    Sammanfattning : Epigeic ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) were sampled between 2021-06-28 and 2021-07-09 using pitfall traps in the Swedish counties Värmland and Gävleborg. The structural properties of the landscapes surrounding these points were estimated from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s national land cover databases and the Swedish Forest Agency’s data for all formally protected and high conservation value forests using patch-based configurational metrics. 3. 3. Evaluating an increased spill regime as a management tool to improve downstream passage of salmon smolt

    Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för miljö- och livsvetenskaper (from 2013)

    Författare :Mattias Hansson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :hydraulic modeling; hydroacoustic telemetry; time to event analysis; hydraulisk modellering; överlevnadsanalys; hydroakustisk telemetri;

    Sammanfattning : The anadromous Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is dependent on river connectivity to reach spawning and rearing habitats in rivers. Most rivers are today fragmented by artificial barriers such as hydroelectric powerplants (HEP) which impede this migratory movement. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Assessment of hydropower mitigation measures for fish habitat rehabilitation with a coupled eco-hydraulic model : A case study on the Skålan-Äldern stretch

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Francesca Polato; [2021]
    Nyckelord :hydropower; mitigation measures; ecological flow assessment; hydraulic modeling; physical habitat models; vattenkraft; begränsande åtgärder; ekologisk flödesbedömning; hydraulisk modellering; fysiska livsmodeller;

    Sammanfattning : In the past century, hydropower development in Sweden has been facilitated by the lack of appropriate environmental legislation. This exploitation has resulted in the current poor ecological status of most Swedish water bodies affected by hydropower, and in the need for new policies that reflect the 2000 European Water Framework Directive. 5. 5. Konsekvenser av en avsänkning av Dragby kvarndamm i Björklingeån

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för ekologi och genetik

    Författare :Gustaf Dahlstrand; [2021]
    Nyckelord :konnektivitet; fiskvandring; dammrivning; avsänkning; batymetri; elfiske; biotopkartering; HEC-RAS; hydraulisk modellering; fiskväg; vandringshinder;

    Sammanfattning : I Sverige finns i dagsläget närmare 10 000 dammar i våra vattendrag. Dammar som har varit en viktig del i den svenska historien men som nu utgör ett hot mot att uppsatta miljömål nås. Dammarna fragmenterar effektivt vattendragen då de utgör vandringshinder för fisk och andra vattenlevande organismer. LÄS MER
