  1. 1. Trends in mountain birch seed abundance and its relation to temperature and moth abundance: a ten-year study from Swedish Lapland

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Instiutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Frida Gustafsson; [2023-02-09]
    Nyckelord :Betula pubescens; climate change; seed production; Epirrita autumnata; Operophtera brumata; subarctic ecology; folivory; larval abundance;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forest is the world’s largest terrestrial biome. Being one of the most ubiquitous and coldtolerant tree species in Sweden, the mountain birch forms a unique deciduous treeline and marks the forest-tundra ecotone. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Surface and Subsurface Flow Connection and Dominating Runoff Mechanism in Hillslope of Tarfala, Northern Sweden.

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Namika Maharjan; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Advanced Terrestrial Simulator ATS ; hillslope connectivity; tracer test; hydrological modeling; parameter analysis; sub artic regions; hillslope hydrology;

    Sammanfattning : The Sub artic regions are becoming increasingly important due to the effects of climate change. In northern Sweden, thawing of permafrost has led to significant increases in annual minimum flows in several catchments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Do OTC warming effects on ecosystem processes depend on moss species identity, precipitation, and moss removal?

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Alexina Brännlund; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Experimental warming; Subarctic tundra mosses; Productivity; Ecosystem respiration; Decomposition;

    Sammanfattning : Long-term warming experiments in arctic tundra have resulted in reduced moss cover and increased vascular plant cover. As mosses have a major impact on microclimatic conditions, changes in community composition can potentially alter direct and indirect drivers of productivity and decomposition, which are low in arctic ecosystems. 4. 4. Changes in July albedo and its relationship with EVI over the last two decades in the Swedish alpine region

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Vera Grönvik Hende; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Shortwave albedo; Enhanced Vegetation Index EVI ; Alpine vegetation; Scandes; Surface albedo feedback; MODIS; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Vegetation in the subarctic is expected to respond to climate warming as its growth becomes less temperature limited. This has previously been recorded in the form of treeline advances and increasing shrub cover. Changes in vegetation cover may accelerate warming due to a decrease in summer albedo, in what is termed surface albedo feedback. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Minskning av palsmyrar som resultat av klimatförändringar i norra Sverige mellan 1960–2020

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :My Apelkvist; [2023]
    Nyckelord :palsmyrar; palsar; norra Sverige; carbon feedback; klimatförändringar;

    Sammanfattning : The climate is changing at a rapid rate. This causes both an increase in temperature and precipitation in the northern high latitudes. Subarctic peatlands contain 30% of the carbon storage in the northern permafrost zone. LÄS MER
