Otukt som mot naturen är : en kvalitativ analys av diskursen kring homosexualitet i den svenska nyhetspressen under 1944

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Journalistik

Sammanfattning: From the perspective of discourse analysis, this paper analyzes how homosexuals are portrayed in the Swedish daily press during the year of 1944 when homosexuality became legal. This is done by qualitatively analyzing 12 news articles from three major national Swedish newspapers; Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet. The analysis revealed three recurring themes in the portrayal of homosexuals in these articles: that homosexuals are portrayed as a threat, a deviation and as something negative. Even though the discourse was probably civilized for its time, there is a standardized and normalized use of language about homosexuals where homosexuals are generally described and associated with words that give a negative portrayal of homosexuals and being homosexual. This negative use of language connected to homosexuals had real consequences and the ideas they gave about homosexuals were a source of various forms of oppression; and still are today.
