Sammanfattning: During the past years the Swedish housing market has experienced a substantial shift towards a liberal housing regime, with considerable changes in the housing stock as a result. Especially the proportion of public rental housing has been reduced as a result of tenure conversions into deregulated, market-based systems. The tenure conversions have mostly taken place in Stockholm, where conversions into cooperative housing have been common in inner-city Stockholm. The aim of this essay is to analyze if the tenure conversions has had any effect on patterns of settlement for low-income earners by looking at the effects on segregation and presence of low-income earners in the county of Stockholm. This will be analyzed by using an Interrupted Time Series Analysis, by imposing a regulating tenure conversion reform as an exogenous variation. The results do not show any effects on segregation nor presence of low-income earners. The tenure conversions are therefore not believed to be one of the main explanatory factors of segregation nor presence of low-income earners in the county of Stockholm.
